It is estimated that there are between six and 7,000 Filipinos queuing at our airport terminals. Carrying folders containing certificates and passports. Most of them always think that their sacrifice and leaving their family behind will bring them comfort in return. That scene is proof that our country’s greatest product is not goods but our people.
For many families, the measure of success is for their children to graduate so they can help them . So if possible, even if it’s difficult, they will really crawl through them after finishing their studies. And that’s what the Makarat couple did . With so many potential problems their children could face in the future, the couple ensured that the children would be prepared, so they helped them through them.
Their decades of hardship paid off as almost all of their children became professionals. [music] So when they retired, they were able to enjoy their lives and their grandchildren more because their children were in good health. Some of them stayed in the Philippines while others preferred other countries.
One of their children was Schubert. He was born on August 23, 1984. Even as a child, he was seen to be caring towards the people around him. That attitude and her dream of having a good life in the future are the reasons why after graduating from high school, she decided to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
[music] After several years of burning their eyebrows in school, the Makarat couple had nothing to hide their joy when another addition to their family was added. Once he got his license, he had no trouble getting a job. And his first employer was the Vicente Soto Memorial Medical Center, a government hospital in Cebu City.
[music] There, she was overwhelmed with work because sometimes a nurse had to look after 15 to 30 patients . So, given the weight of his responsibility and the small salary, he only stayed there for four months . In his professional profile, I saw that he transferred to Vicente Gulas Memorial Hospital, which is located in Mandawe, but because there was not much difference between the two government hospitals in terms of workload, especially in terms of salary, while he was working as a nurse there, Schubert applied to go abroad and after 1 year and 7
months, Schubert submitted his resignation letter to prepare himself to move to another country. With all his papers and luggage ready, Schubbert said an emotional goodbye to his parents and boarded a plane to Abu Dhabi. When he got there, not only did his life change but so did his work. Because his employer, Vencia HealthC services, is not like a hospital he usually works at.
Because Schubert’s responsibility as a staff [music] nurse is to help people in need recover from illnesses, injuries, and more. Between 2011 and 2015, Schwebert had four employers. [music] During that long time, he met many fellow Filipinos who helped him through his sadness. Like other OFWs, Schubert was open to going out to see the various tourist destinations in Abu [music] Dhabi.
And later, you will see in this video that he also became part of Moldex. Twice 15,000. So approaching 13,000 gears. Okay. So we started with Moldex in February, but these two accounts of ours that exited, we only entered on March 1. Okay. The one who exited then. But half a decade later, when it became fashionable for nurses to move from the Middle East to Western countries, Schubert was one of the people who was encouraged to apply [music] and her choice was to serve the Americans.
Due to his good record, Schubert was quickly granted a visa. But before he finally moved to America, he decided to return to the Philippines to be with his family, especially his parents. And in 2018 for the second time, Schubert said goodbye to his parents again. Upon arriving in Florida, he immediately began studying and upon passing the NCLEX, I saw that he was immediately able to work and was granted a license effective June 22, 2018, valid for almost a decade.
I also saw that it was located in this house located in the city of Lisburg which is famous because if you like fishing, you can enjoy fishing in the Harris [music] Chain of Lakes. But even though there are over 178,000 Filipinos in the entire state of Florida, only a few of them choose to live in Lisburg because that area is preferred by retired people because of the quietness there.
But because Filipinos were limited in that area, Schubert sought support from people who were close to him. [music] He was so grateful to have Filipinos at home. But because he was a man, it wasn’t a problem for him if he had many friends who didn’t have one. But that gradually changed as he continued working at his job.
With so many Filipinos working in hospitals there, Schubbert also made a few friends. It has also become comfortable to drive and its work is beautiful. Besides having his own car, money in a savings account, Schubert also had his own family and was an avid fan of the band Journey. From classic CDs and vinyls, to t-shirts, he will buy all the memorabilia he can get his hands on .
Even band concerts, even in Florida or other states, [music] will make him travel just to see his idols. Schubert’s relatives in the Philippines are happy for him because he is in good condition. But if you ask his parents, one of their wishes is that they could see him because this year it’s been eight years since they last saw him.
But nowadays, if you want to go back to the Philippines, you should really prepare your wallet because the ticket alone is really expensive . Schubert’s parents understand that aspect, so even though it’s difficult, they are still very grateful to be able to see their son via video call. One of the things they are also grateful for is that even though they haven’t seen him for a long time, Schubert never forgets to help them with their expenses and buying medicine, especially as they are getting older . I saw that
Schubert’s father was 87 years old while his mother was 77 years old. Even though they are old, they still have strong knees, which the Makarat family is always grateful for. Just in February of this year, in this video taken right inside the home of a couple, filmed by one of their children who had just returned home, this man was captured [music].
That person went inside because it [music] had to bring in some luggage but the couple was surprised when he removed his mask. What they thought was the porter turned out to be their son Schubert. just. After crying, the couple happily ate with their children. Since he hasn’t been back home to the Philippines for a long time, in the photos shared by Schubert and his family, you can clearly see that they are happy to see him after a long time.
When he posted the photos and videos on his social media, people couldn’t help but say they were happy for it. Some also mentioned that they should enjoy their vacation. A few people said they cried at the reunion. After their vacation, the Makarat couple became emotional again because their son was leaving again.
But it seems like that’s the last time we’ll see it. It’s not because it will be long before he returns to the Philippines, but for some people, the couple may have simply passed away without knowing the news that their 42- year-old son, Schubert, was taken away by the authorities. His relatives in the Philippines have been reluctant to provide any information about the case.
Some deactivated and simply hid their social media profiles when the issue reached the Philippines just this month. Her photo spread quickly and when it went viral, she was accused of rape. Other Filipinos working abroad were quick to say that this might just be the victim of a lying person.
In their theory, they said that the behavior of children or adolescents in western countries is not very different from the behavior of children in the Philippines who only say yes to their elders. The point of these is that Filipino children are supposedly more disciplined, more obedient, less fearful, and less likely to lie when compared to Americans.
Some have said that it may have been a plot by someone who did n’t like Schubert’s work as a nurse. But for the prosecutor handling the case, they have very strong evidence against Schubert. In other words, the accusations here are not just a slanderous accusation. And because I don’t want to base my decision on information that’s now appearing on social media, and I don’t know what their source is, I decided to go to the Lake County clerk [music] himself to see the court documents, including the police report and the evidence they gathered
. The first document I saw was the arrest form which stated that Schubert was arrested on March 22, 2026. [music] According to the officer from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, around 11 p.m. the Lake County Communication Center received a call from a woman. During their conversation, he said he wanted to report a crime.
During the call, he admitted that Sheina, who could be considered a Juvenile and was less than a year old, had been repeatedly touched by Schubert. The name Sheina was just made up by me because Florida law prohibits the disclosure of information, especially if a minor is involved. Upon obtaining some important information such as the cellphone number and address of the alleged victim, the operator immediately contacted [music] the nearest officers near that area who responded immediately.
Upon arriving at the address, [music] they contacted the woman at the house to say they were on their way. The police saw the person they were talking to on the cellphone outside the house. When they met her, the officers asked her if Sheina knew they were coming. And that’s when the woman cried and said yes.
They all entered the house. But when the door opened, Schubert appeared before them, clearly surprised. The police ordered them to come out and wait outside. When they saw Sheina, they took her full name and date of birth. And then [music] he did n’t hesitate to tell the authorities that Schubert had been ignoring him for a long time.
Because of that, the police officer immediately contacted his colleague who was guarding Schubert outside the house to arrest him. While being frisked and having Miranda rights read to him, the police report stated that he was even asked if he was being arrested, to which the police replied, ” How can I tell you that I have a video that will prove that you are beating Sheina?” [music] to which Schubert replied, “I would say I made a mistake,” clearly stating that he had made a mistake.
When the police officers questioned him again, instead of answering, he said that he would only talk if they had a lawyer with them. After that, he was loaded into a police car and taken straight to the Lake County City Jail. As authorities gather more evidence, you can see that at first he was immediately faced with a new case.
But before the end of March 23, the number of cases he was facing increased to 47. It is quick to seek help from the public defender or our equivalent is the Public Attorney’s Office. But his application was denied because I learned that in the state of Florida, you can only be given a public defender or government lawyer if you earn $2,660 [music] US or more or less Php160,000 a month.
If you live alone, if that’s your monthly income, the US considers you poor because that’s 200% below their 2026 Federal poverty level. When they looked at his salary, you can see that in the application Schubert submitted, he earns 2,500 US or Php154,000 every two weeks, which is why he was disqualified. But he again requested that his situation be reviewed.
In the application, he stated that he could not afford to hire a private attorney because he had no money to pay and no one wanted to help him. He admitted that he had a debt of 5,000 or Php1.5 million. But the law is the law. So even though he still has debt, he is still not really eligible to be given a public [music] defender.
So it was forced to hire a private lawyer. And with this help, on April 6, Schubert pleaded not guilty. In other words, he wants to put his fate in the hands of the jury. [music] When I read the four pages of the document and saw what evidence the prosecutor had and discovered, I just shook my head because even though I’m not a lawyer, I know that it’s biased and they will never win if this goes to trial.
In court documents, it was revealed that the [music] family-friendly and kind son that Schubert presented to his mothers and fathers, relatives, family members, and coworkers was just a veneer . Perhaps someone will tell you that everyone has different behaviors inside and outside the home that the prosecutor is willing to accept.
The kind of evil Schubert’s behavior is on another level. With the help of experts, the victim was carefully interviewed because she is the key witness in the case and I warn you. I did everything I could to change the words and simplify the explanation of what happened. But if you are a mother or parent, you may still be triggered.
According to Sheina’s account, his sexual abuse of her began in March 2023 when she was only about 10 years old. Like other demonic and demonic swindlers, he threatened her that if she reported him, he would not only kill her but also some of her loved ones. Because of the fear that her words would come true , in Sheina’s young mind , not reporting the incident was her way to protect the lives of others.
So the carnal Schubert repeatedly rejected her for three years. If a normal person could think about whether what they were doing was right or what the effect of their evil actions on someone would be, Short never even once thought about it. According to authorities, nothing is more important here than the call of his flesh.
[music] In fact, instead of stopping the horny nurse, Shina just didn’t use protection. But later [music] to add a twist to his wild behavior, he even bought a GoPro camera to record what he was doing. When she was bored with what was happening, the demonic nurse, according to the prosecutor, was still using a laptop and was even watching the malos watching Shina before and while she was being beaten.
Salar also used protection, toys, and more. Sheina admitted that the last time he hit her was on January 29 of this year. A month before he went on vacation in the Philippines. If anyone tells you that Sheina is just making this up, just shut your mouth because when I say that the evidence against Schubert is heavy, it really is heavy.
For several years, the suspect may have thought that Sheina would be obedient and silent for the rest of her life, or perhaps he thought that She might like what he was doing, but he was wrong. Sheina gradually gained courage. But he knew that if he didn’t have evidence, there was a possibility that the case wouldn’t proceed.
So before reporting it, he wanted to record what was being done to him using his cellphone, which he had hidden in the room. And he wasn’t wrong. When it was evening and their housemate had left for work, the suspect stalked him. Even though he felt so sorry for himself for Sheina, he had to do that to completely imprison the demon Schubert so that he could no longer be a victim .
That cellphone recording was what she showed the police, which is why Schubert was immediately arrested on March 22. What She also said about the GoPro is true because when the authorities obtained a search warrant, they seized the 4 TB external hard drive belonging to the suspect. To give you an idea of ​​how much storage that is, a 4 TB hard drive can only store over 5,000 movies [music] in standard definition.
When computer forensics examined the hard drive, 7 out of the 3,000 videos there contained lewd comments about the victim. [music] Authorities also seized other physical evidence such as the toys used in the crime . [music] That’s a lot of evidence, even if you add Sheina’s own statement, even if they say now that he is innocent until proven guilty.
[music] The leading prosecutor believes that Sheer has no way out of what he did. For those of you who ask what kind of suspect the victim is [music], we can only make a theory. In my research, I may be right or wrong. But according to the report, only three people live in the house. The suspect, the victim and another woman.
Who is that third person ? I saw two posts on social media. [music] One was shared by Schubert himself where he was with his wife to watch a concert. Then the second is this person’s post. The woman in those photos is the same and the caption states that she is called Mrs. Makarat. This means there is a possibility that Sheina is that woman’s daughter and the suspect is not her real father .
Why did I say they were not related by blood? Let ‘s go back to this Schubert’s nursing license that I saw and the SAR post when she surprised her parents. There he said that he hadn’t seen his mother and father for eight years and then he was granted a license in 2018. My point is that Shina is a year old and Schubert was only eight years old in America.
Maybe he met the woman in the US and if my suspicion is correct, Sheina is his stepdaughter. It was also revealed that the woman suspected that Schubert was doing strange things so she set up her own camera which also captured the evil things he was doing. So when she confirmed what he was doing to Sheina, she didn’t hesitate to call the authorities.
Being close to the victim is also the reason why Kit’s case became more serious because in the eyes of the authorities, Schubert should be the father figure in her life. He should be the one taking care of it, guiding it, and supporting it. [music] He’s not the demon who will harm and destroy [music] Shina’s life.
So the prosecutor wants to ask the judge to impose the death penalty. [music] [music] If you read that he will be sentenced to death, don’t believe it because according to the update [music] directly from the Lake County Clerk, Schubert has not yet been sentenced. There’s not even a date yet for when they’ll select the people who will be part of the jury and there’s still no word on when the trial itself will take place.
[music] The latest update on this case is that each side and the judge will have a status conference on August 19, [music] 2026. There, the 4 TBT hard drives that were seized and [music] some evidence gathered will be discussed. The prosecutor’s intention to seek the death penalty [music] will also be discussed if the case continues.
And the last one will be to discuss whether they are ready to schedule a trial. But I think that with the amount of evidence that each camp [music] needs to review, the trial might be postponed . And for those who are excited that he might be given the death sentence, your joy will only be short-lived because even if [music] the judge and jury give him a guilty verdict and then punish him with the death penalty, [music] I’m sure that will be overturned if Schubert’s company appeals.
Because in 2008 [music] the Supreme Court declared it unconstitutional and that such a serious crime should not be punished, especially if no one died in the [music] crime that occurred. In other words, Schubert’s defense team will argue that imposing the [music] death penalty on him is unconstitutional because of the 8th amendment.
